Jane Smiley's often quoted sentiment: “Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.” I think of it often as, yes, it's true. I do feel better at the sight of a book. It's the reason I cultivate a fairly sizeable home library. I also have a bad habit of lugging too many hardcovers in my suitcase when I travel and then proceeding to stock up on more books at my destination. On a recent trip to Athens, I purchased no fewer than 15 books ... and had to purchase an extra suitcase (23 Euros at a supermarket) in which to bring them home. So much for traveling with only a carry on.
it's also the reason I love walking through bookstores, even when I'm (theoretically) on a book-buying ban.
Here's a recent stroll I took at my local Barnes and Noble. Enjoy, and tell us in the comments: What's your favorite Connecticut bookstore?
