Library patrons, have you pondered these questions: Where the books really go when you put them down the machine? How many books does the Library process on a daily basis? What is in the lower level of the Library? (Seriously, is that where the Batmobile is hidden?) What kind of gadgets does the library offer?
These questions and more will be answered at Darien Library on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 2 - 4 p.m. when Librarians will give a special behind the scenes tour of its facility as part of National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Staff will be on-hand to give tours, register new residents and individuals who work in town, and showcase all of the Library’s offerings that are available to Darien Library card holders. All are welcome, and no registration is needed.
To register for a Darien Library card, a person needs to be a resident of Darien, work full- time in town, or become a friend of the Library through a donation of $300 dollars or more. In addition, cardholders from any library in the state may cross-register their card in Darien for library privileges. At the time of registration, Darien residents should bring proof of address, and full-time employees should bring proof of employment.
The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Rd. in Darien, Conn. For more information, visit darienlibrary.org or phone (203) 655-1234.
