Fiction Writing Class Begins at Darien Library on Sept. 22

The Darien Library will host a six-week course on writing fiction beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.

Designed for the patron who would like a step-by-step approach to writing short stories or the beginnings of a novel, the course will cover strategies and best practices for hooking the reader, crafting point of view (POV), writing dialogue, character development, story arcs, and developing themes. In-class writing exercises and discussion of stories of well-known authors will be included. This writing class is open to anyone, at any level, interested in trying their hand at writing.

The course is led by Laura Cavers, a recent graduate of Manhattanville College's MFA program. At Manhattanville, Laura was assistant editor to the college's award-winning literary magazine, Inkwell. She is currently working on her first novel, "Bellwethers."
