"The Golden Passport" Author Duff McDonald Speaks at Pequot Library on Sept. 24

Pequot Library’s Meet the Author series will continue on Sept. 24 when the library will welcome Duff McDonald, author of “The Golden Passport: Harvard Business School, the Limits of Capitalism, and the Moral Failure of the MBA Elite.” Held from 4 - 6 p.m., the free and open to the public program includes a 30-40 minute author talk, Q&A, and book sale and signing. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served.

McDonald is a New York-based journalist. Previously a contributing editor at New York, Fortune, and The New York Observer, he has also written for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Business Week, Conde Nast Portfolio, GQ, WIRED, Time, Newsweek, and others.

“The Golden Passport” is a riveting and timely intellectual history of one of the most important capitalist institutions, Harvard Business School, from the bestselling author of “The Firm.”

In particular, McDonald explores two important questions: Has the school failed at reaching the goals it set for itself? And is HBS therefore complicit in the moral failings of Western capitalism? At a time of pronounced economic disparity and political unrest, this hard-hitting yet fair portrait offers a much-needed look at an institution that has a profound influence on the shape of our society and all our lives.

The Pequot Library is located at 720 Pequot Ave. in Southport, Conn. For more information, call (203) 259-0346 ext. 15, or visit pequotlibrary.org.
